Do you offer buy-to-let mortgages?
- From 28 Apil 2026, Clydesdale no longer offers new buy-to-let mortgages.
- This includes non-regulated, consumer and regulated buy-to-let lending. None of which will be available to new customers after 28 April 2026.
- Buy-to-let existing customer products are still available
What does it mean for customers who have a pipeline buy-to-let application with us now that you no longer offer new buy-to-let lending?
- We will continue to process the application in the usual way, in line with the lending policy at the point of application.
- You should continue to interact with us in your normal way however some processes have been impacted such as change of applicants. Please see the relevant sections below for more information.
- If the customer wishes to change products, for example from a 2 year to a 5 year deal, you can choose from the range available at the point of application.
What does it mean for customers who have an existing buy-to-let offer with us now that you no longer offer new buy-to-let lending?
- Existing offers will be honoured.
- Brokers and solicitors should continue to interact with us in your normal way however some processes have been impacted such as change of applicants. Please see the relevant sections below for more information.
Will you allow product switching on pipeline buy-to-let applications/offers now that you no longer offer new buy-to-let lending?
- New products have been withdrawn. However, if the customer wishes to request a change, for example from a 2 year to a 5 year deal, you can choose from the range available at the point of application.
What if the original property falls through on a buy-to-let application, will you consider a change of property?
- Yes. A ‘change of details’ form can be uploaded to the case as usual to request the property is amended on the mortgage application.
Can we add/remove parties from a pipeline buy-to-let application/offer?
- No. This would require a new application. As we have stopped accepting new applications, the client would need to go to another lender
What does this mean for our existing buy-to-let customers now that you no longer offer new buy-to-let lending?
- You can continue to process existing customer transactions in your usual way.
- We will continue to service existing customers with a range of product transfer, home mover and Further Advance options.
Will the Porting process change now that you no longer offer new buy-to-let lending?
- As a result of these changes there are no impacts to our porting process, and you should continue to process these cases in your usual way.
- We have an existing customer product range for customers wanting to move their mortgage to another property.
Will the product transfer process change now that you no longer offer new buy-to-let lending?
- There will be no changes to our product transfer process because of our decision to withdraw from new buy-to-let lending.
